On January 5, Dr. Danny Whetstone, the President of World Wide New Testament Baptist Missions; Rev. Sam Stricklin, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Warwick, Rhode Island; Rev. Bill Daub; Pastor Milad Khaled from Lebanon; Pastor Ghassan Haddad from Jordan; Rev. Sam Kassab of Detroit; and I traveled to Baghdad in order to dedicate the first Independent Baptist church ever in the history of Iraq.
The dedication took place on January 9. We rejoiced as we saw more than 300 people coming to participate in the dedication of the church. That same night, after I gave an invitation, about 50 people stood up and prayed after me the salvation prayer. The dedication was followed by 3 days of revival. As a result of these meetings about 130 people made a confession of faith in Christ.
Dr. Whetstone announced during his sermon that many years down the road people will look at this event and the dedication of the New Testament Baptist Church of Baghdad will be written in the history books as the first Baptist church ever to be dedicated in Iraq.
Pastor Sam Stricklin was interviewed by a local TV station and the Songtime USA radio show about the trip. You can access the entire interviews using Microsoft Media Player by clicking on the links below:
